In the 17th Century boys and girls were sent to dame schools at an early age. The ladies are not generally instructed much book learning, but were instructed how to be an excellent housewife. They were instructed the way to cook. They were also taught just how to spin and weave and knit, not only for home wear but for the shops.
Many complicated stitches were educated to the girls. The herringbone being one type of fashion pattern.
The girls were taught by having initials knit into stockings and mittens how to create fashion trends. The alphabet was knit into sometimes even a verse of poetry and mittens.
Young women were instructed to be mild and learn embroidery that was fine. New trend joyce riding clothing were made with fine embroidery and sold in the shops. Another vogue fad was the making of paper flowers. They were taught how to paint fine art on velvet. They learned in a hundred challenging and different layouts about quilt piecing. They were also taught the way to make bone lace with bobbins and pillow.
Boys were trained in, Latin Grammar, amongst other matters. The study of writing and reading was firmly etched on their minds.
The 19th Century (Early Victorian 1837-1869) brought in a fresh fashion trend for women. What a women wanted was curves to enhance their femininity. The fashion corset of that day helped to create those curves that girls wanted.
The late Victorian period of 1870-1900 seen the fashion corset go a step further. Curves on girls were created by closely lacing them into their corsets. This style was known as the hourglass look.
Then came the 20th Century. Young women went to school and university. They began to compete with men for jobs. The equal equality in every area of life for women had still not arrived.
However, even if wage parity that was identical was not being received by young women to men, many received a superb income. And a new fashion style was brought in by that scenario. The laddette vogue craze.
They failed to limit their drinking, the next day even if they were working. A few small glasses of spirits or wine had not been enough for them. They felt compelled to compete with men.
They might see young men gulping large glasses of beer down. In order that they started to drink large glasses of beer.
At closing time, they’d leave legless, the public house. Be sick and after that fall down. Many young women began to go work feeling very ill. But that didn’t deter them from starting the drinking cycle over several hours after.
Hopefully, as the 21st Century advances, the donegal design clothing vogue trend will evaporate. And, the 19th Century fashion fad will partially re-appear. This time however, women can make use of the more contemporary corset to reintroduce their femininity. And hopefully, they are going to still have wage earning jobs that are great to buy appropriate ladies fashion clothing.
